Sound

There are two main categories of doing in film; diegetic and non-diegetic.
Diegetic is sound the characters can hear.
Non-diegetic is sound the characters can't hear but the audience can. (it adds atmosphere/makes you feel emotions)

EXAMPLES
Diegetic dialogue, ambient sound or sound effects.
Non-diegetic music, voiceover or sound effects.
