MISE EN SCENE
One of main ways that Gorillaz attracts their audience is with the stunning editing. All of their music videos have some sort of animation - Clint Eastwood is entirely animated, with the characters done in 2D Cell animation, whereas the environment is 3D CGI, flawlessly edited to flow well together. Jamie Hewlett's interesting art style certainly adds to the video, with the timings and lip syncing perfect - so perfect intact that there are several close ups that focus on 2D's singing. The animation is certainly one of the biggest factors as to the band's fame; the audience is often entranced by the videos, simply blown away by how smooth and fluid it is, which is shown in almost every frame, but especially the opening, where Murdoc, Russel, Noodle and 2D slide on screen.
The language used also assists to attract the audience. As Gorillaz is an experimental band, their sounds vary from song to song, album to album. In the case of Clint Eastwood, it's a hip-hop rap, with vocals provided by Damon Albarn (2D) and Del Tha Funkee Homosapien (Del the Ghost Rapper).
